please love me COLORS

here is another page i did
another theme proposal...
this image is kinda messed up -- it isn't supposed to have a giant white border, or a pink page break...

i think its kinda funny, cause this is a photo i took of the project i made while i was at fabrica this summer...
the one where they told me that i sucked and i needed to go back to canada...
was it smart to remind them of my past work?  probably not...
but i like the foto ... so i used it.

i JUST submitted my application for COLORS...
keep your fingers crossed for me kids.

as promised here is one of the page layouts..
one of my proposal was that a future issue be dedicated to the examination of....

that is my friend carey...  SURPRISE  carey!
you are the new face of abstinence!

more t-shirt designs... oh my

its 3:56 A.M. after a long halloweenie nite, and i remembered on my way home that i needed to keep my promise and post something new on buttons... so here it is... a shirt i made before i started school...
its meant to solicit active participation on the part of the wearer... you can take thread or a marker and circle the relevant syllables for your difficult word [maybe your name, or your hometown, or whatever] and then write out your word phonetically along the bottom dotted lines....
: )

drinking, singing, bicycling

Mildred Irwin's got a good story, North Platte, Nebraska saloon songstress, 1938.

Letter from John Vachon to his wife, Penny:
October 29, 1938

Last night I had an adventure. Of the 1st water. To have it I had to get kind of stiff. And I did, dear. Pretty plastered. But it was all in the line of duty, eminently legitimate and justifiable. About eight o'clock I went into a corner saloon. It was a saloon in the grand tradition. I drank only beer, but great gobs of it. At the piano was a big huge large fat blonde woman of 45 to 50 yrs. With beautiful smeary red makeup on her puss, and huge mammy type bosoms. And her voice, O that you could hear her voice. She has Sophie Tucker in the wastebasket . . .

non? okay.. hows about....

here's try no. 2...
this one has some details to be worked out...
like the blood splatter image was stolen from the internet... and its got pixel issues that would probably have to be resolved....
but i like it more than the other one cause i think its more clever...

also its sorta based on a true story!
i poked myself with a exacto blade once... nothing real bad.. but there was a lot of blood...
but the FIRST thing i did once i realized i'd been hit was to check the model i had been working on to make sure i didn't get any blood on it....
nice.

i was thinking it was like a t-shirt *wink* about how architecture school messes with your priorities....

tee shirts! get your tee shirts!

baass, uoft's undergraduate architecture student group is having a t-shirt design competition...
i think the prize is nothing....
regardless here's my first proposal....
it supposed to look like tape art.. on  a wall...

taa daa!

my first movie

my final fugg-o post of the day is a short film i made...
its for a top secret benetton product to be released some time in the future....

but basically they wanted the fabricanti kids [and the wannabe fabricanti kids] to come up with a short spot using only stripes of colour...

mine is essence of 'un bisou'

looking over all the f a b r i c a work i have done is making me sad...
i wish i could have made more grafically beautiful things...
am i being too hard on myself?
i don't think so...

i am afraid i could not have worked any harder....

man oh man...

trial project 2... revised at home

so here is my 3 hour attempt to rescue that last poster...
the colours are again messed up... the blue is supposed to be red....

what do you think?
should i work on the rest and e-mail omar the revised versions?

i think i will....

i am 1% satisfied with the work i did while on trial....

AHHHHHHHHH!!!

i am looking at this stuff now and it is so CRAPPY!!

i think perhaps i am having some sort of a breakdown...
oh no....

trial project 2... WHO child safety posters

the second project for my trial was a poster series for the WHO...
i had to design six posters about child safety aimed at government
officials and policy makers from all the UN nations....
it is an awareness campaign....

this is one of the six i handed in...
it is for burning....

i think it sucks....
its not coming up here properly on the blog...
all the colours are reversed...
but i feel like you get the crappy idea behind my crappy poster....

BAH!

trial project 1.... comic about toronto

i was asked to make a comic strip about my home town as a part of the trial at fabrica.
if its good enough, an italian weekly magazine called 'internazionale' might publish it....

i think it mine is 85% sucko...
the yellow colour came out all weird in the printer and...
i don't know... it just kinda sucks....

please give me an HONEST review...

i think it sucks.

blip! blip! beep!

i don't do drugs but if i did i would do them to the following songs:

this song that has been in my brain ever since i heard it a few days ago.
and its not even a real song!
if toolbox robots existed, and if could make music i am pretty sure it would sound like pivot's didn't i furious

you should listen to heartsrevolution's c.y.o.a alone but within earshot of someone you trust.
that way if you go into a seizure they can take you to the hospital.

the more i listen to these songs the more i hate them...
and yet i keep hitting "repeat".

BAH!

hey sabina!
have you heard the new nick cave record?
i will burn you a copy if you have not!
it will make up for these song i promise!!

thirty minutes and some tape

instead of picking up my ma on time,
my little brother and i decided to make some tape graffiti
for the neighbourhood college radio station

i have gotten a little rusty....
also we needed more tape, but i like it alright.

this is my brother..
he is tall and in the witness protection program hence the no face.

i know its hard but please respect his privacy.

i got this book [the portable dorothy parker] in the mail the other day.

her short stories are real great... but most of her poetry is only okay.
